Climate & Best Time to Visit

Sri Lanka has two monsoon seasons, so the best time to visit depends on the region. The west and south coasts are best from December to April, while the east coast and northern regions are ideal from May to September. Temperatures remain warm year-round, but hill country areas like Nuwara Eliya are cooler. Avoid the monsoon months (May–June and October–November) for outdoor activities.

Flavourful Cuisine

Sri Lankan cuisine is packed with bold flavors, spices, and coconut-based curries. Rice and curry is the staple meal, featuring an assortment of vegetable, fish, or meat curries. Hoppers (bowl-shaped pancakes) and kottu roti (chopped flatbread stir-fried with vegetables and meat) are must-try street foods. Seafood lovers can enjoy fresh crab curry, while sweet lovers should try wattalapam, a coconut custard dessert. Sri Lankan tea, especially from the highlands, is world-famous.
